Frequently Asked Questions
Do you provide in-person counseling in an office setting?
No. We only provide online therapy via videoconferencing to clients who are physically located in North Carolina, Texas, or Utah at the time of service.
Do you offer services to clients outside of North Carolina, Texas, or Utah?
At this time, we are only able to provide services to clients who are physically located in North Carolina, Texas, or Utah at the time of service.
How is online therapy different from therapy in an office setting?
The primary difference is that online therapy allows you to have your sessions from the convenience of the location of your choice with fewer time constraints, since you will not need to commute to an office. You will also be meeting with your therapist via videoconferencing instead of in-person. Otherwise, sessions via teletherapy are very similar to sessions in an office environment.
How do I know if online therapy is right for me?
In many ways, online therapy is very similar and comparable to receiving therapy in an office setting. There may be some factors to consider, however, to determine whether online therapy would be a good fit for you. Click here to learn more about whether teletherapy is appropriate for you.
How frequent should my therapy sessions be?
In most cases, it is recommended that sessions occur on a weekly basis to ensure proper assessment and management of your needs. However, after your first session, we can discuss whether weekly sessions are appropriate and beneficial for your individual needs.
What will happen in my first session?
During your first session, there will be a lot of questions. This will be a time for us to answer any questions you have about our policies and practices to confirm whether working together will be a good fit. Our first session together will be an opportunity for us to get to know one another and gain an understanding of what led you to decide to try therapy. We will also use this time to establish therapy goals.
How long will my therapy sessions be?
All sessions, including initial assessment and follow-up sessions, are generally a total of 50-60 minutes long.
Can I use my insurance to pay for sessions?
We currently accept some insurance plans through Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, Cigna, Aetna, and United Healthcare for North Carolina clients only. We are in-network with United Healthcare in Texas, and are awaiting approval to accept additional insurance plans. Unfortunately, at this time we are ONLY able to accept self-pay clients who are located in Utah. We will provide an update once we are able to accept any insurance plans.
Please call your insurance provider to inquire about your benefits for outpatient mental health benefits and whether online therapy will be covered for you. If you will not be using insurance benefits, we accept credit and debit cards for all service payments, including copayments and deductibles.
