Tonya Becker MS, LCMHC, NCC

As we travel our path through life, we could all use inspiration and guidance. Emotional wellbeing is fundamental and helps determine how we handle daily stress, navigate through relationships with others, and impacts the choices we make.

My name is Tonya, and I am a National Certified Counselor and a fully Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina. My educational experience consists of earning a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Applied Behavioral Analysis from Kaplan University.

Servicing the mental health field in various capacities with diverse populations, I have had the privilege to work with adults of all ages, adolescents, children, couples, and families. Within this scope, I have provided counseling, applied behavior analysis, community outreach support and group work. Capabilities of specialization includes working with those who have psychological and developmental disorders, such as depression, anxiety, stress, mood disorders, autism, anger, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, adjustment difficulties, behavior concerns, parenting challenges, women related issues and more.

I take an individualistic stance in treatment modality with respect to my clients’ beliefs and values. Each client will have the opportunity to contribute to their treatment by acknowledging specific challenges and changes wished to bring forth, while collaboratively developing ways to reach personal goals. A philosophy I adapt into the nature of my work is that change can occur when commitment exists.

Realizing that one therapeutic method will not fit everyone, I have received extensive education and formal training in the field of counseling to apply treatment interventions that embrace change through various counseling styles. Many approaches I employ entangle techniques and thought processes to accompany change, positive attitudes, and empowerment that can lead to a healthier lifestyle. Practices commonly utilized in my work include but are not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and parental guidance to address parenting concerns for child and adolescent behaviors. I strive to provide treatment modalities that are best suitable for each client’s needs.

My professional goal is to assist in restoring hope, feelings of brokenness and offering opportunities of positive change in the lives of those I come in to contact with. When working with me, one can expect a safe nurturing environment free from judgment that allows you to be yourself.

I appreciate your consideration in allowing me to support you through the processes to regain and repair what has been lost or broken along the way. It would be my privilege to travel this journey with you in helping you reach limitless life achievements and fulfillment.
